In view of the new Omicron variant, there have been revisions in the Guidelines for International Arrivals in India. The new guidelines are enclosed.
It may be noted that all cases so far reported of Omicron variant are of vaccine evasion.
Keeping the available information in view, all incoming passengers from Countries At Risk will be tested on-arrival as well and will have to home quarantine. Vaccination status does not matter in the new Guidelines.
Passengers from other countries ( other than 14 given in the list of Countries At Risk) will have to self-monitor. About 5% of such passengers will be tested on a random basis for surveillance purposes.
Since the situation related to the Omicron variant is evolving, there may be changes to the Guidelines in days and weeks ahead. As soon as the situation stabilizes and more data is available for how the new variant affects those vaccinated, the authorities would reconsider the issue of factoring in vaccination status in the Guidelines.
